Fun & Romantic Blindfolded Valentine’s Day Taste Test Game

It’s February! I love February because it is my birthday month and we also get to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I am not big on Valentine’s day celebrations, but it is fun to spend quality time with your loved one, and it’s an excuse to have a fun date. This year, many of us will be celebrating Valentine’s Day from home, so I thought I’d share this fun Valentine’s Day game.

Last year, I got creative and made a blindfolded taste test game for us to play. We had a blast playing, so I thought I would share it with all of you. When we played, I just used construction paper and hand wrote on the cards. However, I decided to get fancy and made a digital version.

What You Will Need – Valentine’s Day Game

  • Blind Fold – I just used a sleeping mask I had, but you could use a bandana.
  • Plastic Cups- I put all of our different candies, foods, and drinks into small plastic wine glasses I got from the dollar store.
  • Game Cards – You can either download these or use my template to create your own.
  • Candies, Snacks and Drinks- The sky is the limit for the test testing items. I got a lot of our items from the dollar store. I have created a list of items that you can use to help you decide what to buy.

How to Play

  1. Decide on the number of foods to taste. I would suggest 3-5 in each category.
  2. Shop separately and keep your selections secret (if you’re sharing a fridge, place your items in a paper grocery bag).
  3. Take turns blindfolding and testing each others’ tasting skills.
  4. Record each other’s score, but keep it a secret until the end. Tally up the scores and see who is the best taster and the ultimate foodie!
  5. Enjoy the leftovers, maybe even with a movie!

Tips for Shopping Inexpensively

  • Cheese – You can find a wide variety of cheeses at the grocery store, and a lot of times they are on sale. I only buy the ones that are on sale and in small quantities. You could even have the deli slice you a few slices of different types of cheese.
  • Beverages– If you are doing beer and wine, you can buy single cans or boxes of these. If you choose to do liquor, you can buy shooters. Just be sure you tell your partner you are giving them straight liquor before they taste it so that they are not surprised.
  • Candy – The dollar store is a great place to get a variety of candy for cheap.
  • Desserts- You can also buy instant pudding mixes, they just take a little preparation.

Suggestions

  1. Avoid extremely spicy foods.
  2. Check for food allergies and dietary restrictions before you shop.
  3. Stick with individual foods rather than flavor combos. DO NOT try to be funny and feed your partner something gross. When we played my husband thought it would be funny to feed me lemon juice and BBQ sauce. IT WAS NOT FUNNY!
  4. You will most likely have leftovers, so try to make a plan to use the leftover items after the game while you are shopping. You could even plan a movie night after and enjoy the snacks then.
