Cream Cheese Cookies – Easy and Delicious Christmas Cookie
These cream cheese cookies are so delicious and are very easy to make. They are truly the perfect holiday cookie. All the ingredients I usually have on hand, the only thing you may not have on hand is the cream cheese, but I am a cream cheese nut, and always have it stocked in my fridge.
I love these cookies because they are tender, chewy, fluffy, and covered in cinnamon sugar. What says Christmas more than cookies covered in cinnamon sugar?
If you have never had a cream cheese cookie, you are in for a real treat. These cookies are like a combination of a sugar cookie and a snickerdoodle, but the cream cheese element creates a smooth, delicate finish.
What You Will Need
For the Cookies
- Cream Cheese Softened
- 1 Egg Room Temperature
- Butter Softened
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Powdered sugar
- Salt
- Vanilla extract
To cover the cookies in
- Cinnamon, ground
- Granulated sugar
How to Make the Cream Cheese Cookies
- You will first want to set out your egg, cream cheese, and butter until they are soft and at room temperature. This will usually take about an hour or two.
- Then you will want to cream together the butter and the cream cheese using an electric mixer until smooth. If these are not completely softened, they will not combine well when mixing.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar and beat until creamy and smooth.
- Add the egg, vanilla, baking powder, and salt and mix until combined.
- Gradually add in the all-purpose flour. When you measure the flour, you will want to make sure you aerate the flour and scoop the flour into your measuring cup as opposed to scooping directly from the container. You can aerate the flour by fluffing it with a spoon a few times. If you scoop the flour directly out of the container, you will end up with too much.
- Once the flour is completely combined in the mixture, cover the dough with plastic wrap and place in the fridge until chilled. This usually takes about an hour or so. You do not want to skip this step because it will be impossible to roll the dough when warm, and it will make an absolute mess.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon.
- Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, scoop and roll the cookies into balls. Roll the cookies through the cinnamon sugar until completely covered.
- Place on the prepared baking sheet about 1 1/2 inch- 2 inches apart.
- Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes. Do not bake them for more than 10 minutes. These cookies will not get golden, which makes it hard to tell when they are done baking.
- Let the cookies cool for 10 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack. This is an important step. If you do not let your cookies cool on the baking sheet first, they will most likely fall apart.
