2nd Trimester Must-Haves You Didn’t Know you Needed
I have just wrapped up the second trimester of pregnancy. Everyone calls the second trimester the “honeymoon phase”. I completely agree. I loved every second of the second trimester. We were finally ready to share our big news, the belly started to show, I had more energy and we were able to find out the gender of our sweet baby. It truly was an unforgettable time. I thought I would share a few must-haves that helped me get through the 2nd trimester with ease.

Pregnancy Pillow
I LOVE my pregnancy pillow. I would catch my dogs and husband sleeping in it. This was important to get in the first part of the second trimester to help me get used to sleeping on my side. It can be dangerous for the baby and you to sleep on your back after the _____ week. I am a back sleeper, so getting used to sleeping on my side was difficult, but this made it easier and WAY more comfy.
Stretch Mark Prevention – Lotion & Oil
No one wants to get stretch marks so it is important to start a stretch mark prevention routine as soon as possible. I use Lubriderm lotion twice a day, once in the morning and one in the evening. Also in the evening, I would use Bio-Oil. Both of these products absorb quickly and do not leave your skin feeling greasy.
Maternity Clothes
You will not know when you will need pregnancy clothes. It is important that you have a few items early on to prepare for the day that NOTHING fits you. I have linked a few of my favorites items below from Target. I have also come to love the Target sale section because they usually have quite a bit of maternity clothes on sale.
Maternity Short Sleeve Tees from Target
Black Maternity Pants from Target
Black Maternity Leggings from Target
Pregnancy Books
Understanding what your body is going through and how you can prepare for the baby’s arrival is important. I have been reading What to Expect When you’re Expecting, but have linked some other top-rated pregnancy books from babylist.com.

A Comfortable Bra & Undies
You may have already noticed your breast increasing in size. You may want to invest in a comfortable bra for the next couple months. Also, as your belly grows, your undies won’t fit the same way. I have found that the only comfortable pair of panties to wear are the seamless panties because they are extremely stretchy and not restrictive at all. These
You may also consider a bra extender. I didn’t need a new bra until I was in the third trimester, but I found these bra extenders extremely helpful. I did not want to purchase a new bra if I didn’t know how long I was even going to it in it. These extenders let me use the bra’s I had with more comfort as I grew.
Comfortable Pajamas / Sweat Pants
I have found that most amazing pair of joggers that I wear almost every night to bed, and they are only $15. I purchased 3 pairs. These are great for sleeping, lounging around the house, or running errands. They have grown as my belly grows.
A Water Nice Water Bottle
During pregnancy, you are supposed to drink at least 2 liters of water a day. This may seem like a daunting task. I have found that if I carry a water bottle around during the day, this is an easy task. I love this Simple Modern Insulated Water Bottle with Straw Lid water bottle because it holds 1 liter of water. Usually, I try to drink at least 2 of these a day but usually shoot for 3.
A Journal
As you enter the second trimester, you will be experiencing a lot of first that you will want to document. You will feel kicks, potentially find out the baby’s gender, hear the baby’s heartbeat. To remember how special these moments are, you will want to keep a journal.
Pregnancy Tracking Apps
A pregnancy tracking app is a definite 2nd trimester must-have. I check my pregnancy app almost daily to see how big my baby is getting, check to see what symptoms I may be experiencing, and read about what I should be doing to prepare. These apps are so helpful for first-time moms. My favorite two are the What to Expect App and the Bump. There are tons of different apps, but these I have found to be the most helpful.
