Summertime White Sangria
This white sangria is perfect for summer when you want something light and refreshing. What I like about this Sangria is that it is simple to make and so easy to drink. This sangria is filled with strawberries, oranges and sweetened with pineapple. This summertime drink can be made ahead of time making it perfect for poolside afternoons or summer evening barbecues.
My husband and always talk about making fun cocktails but always end up making something basic, link liquor mixed with soda, or just buying a bottle of wine. I thought if I started writing blog posts about fun cocktails, it would actually hold us to it. This is our first drink we have made together, and there will be plenty more to come.
I used to work at a restaurant/bar where we had to make all of our own drinks, the bartender would not help. So I have found my own way to make drinks. Sangria was one of our most requested items during summertime. It has been a few years since my waitressing days, but I have still got it.
What type of wine should I use for my sangria?
I do not like sweet wine, so I am partial to pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc, but if you like sweeter wines I would recommend a moscato. You can really use whatever type of white wine you like the best.
How long can I keep the sangria?
It is best to drink the sangria the first day if you want to fruit to not be soggy. However, it will last for 3-4 days in the fridge, the fruit just might get a little soggy, especially the strawberries.
Ideas on how to customize the sangria
- Add different summertime fruit – blueberries, apples, peaches, raspberries, etc.
- Add a flavored vodka or skip the vodka altogether if that is not your thing. You can even try adding different liquor like tequila or rum. I will say I have tried this with tequila and it was not bad.
- Try it with different types of wine.
- Muddle your fruit before adding it to the sangria
- Try different kinds of soda or bubbles – Ginger ale, Champagne, Cheerwine, etc.
